We have been designing, manufacturing and marketing gravity discharge gates for covered hopper cars since the 1960’s. In 1992, the railroad industry adopted stringent new standards for the performance and approval of hopper gates and we responded with an inventive and effective solution.

Our high performance gate seal makes it ideal for difficult commodities such as cement and potash, in addition to the more common grain products shipped in hopper cars. A continuous 1-piece “floating” seal frame compresses tightly in its seal cavity when gates are in the closed position. The seal design is tested and proven to be the tightest and most reliable seal on the market.

In addition, an innovative, rugged capstan comes with 4-way bar entry slots for manual operation. The drive socket is lined with a hardened spring steel insert which protects against the rounding-out effects of powerful automatic drive tools, eliminating the need for weld-on “donut” extensions.

We supply a variety of hopper gate sizes and configurations tailored to meet industry requirements at all levels. Our gate designs are fully approved to AAR standard S-233-92, are proven to withstand the very demanding operating environments that gates are subjected to consistently and are equipped on thousands of railcars throughout North America.
