Holden Railway Equipment Corp. (HREC) is pleased to announce the signing of an exclusive agreement with Longchang Railway Materials Factory (LRM) for the distribution of their brake shoes in North America. The multi-year deal calls for mutual cooperation between Holden and Longchang on design, specifications, AAR approvals and market development. Both parties have committed to working together on an exclusive basis during the term of the agreement. Holden expects to have products available for evaluation and testing in early 2007 and to begin shipping production quantities in the second half of 2007, pending final AAR approval.
Longchang Railway Materials is an operating unit of China Railway Materials, one of the holding companies created by the Ministry of Railways of the Peoples Republic of China as part of the overall realignment of their operations. Longchang is located in Sichuan Province, in close proximity to Chongqing, offering ready access to efficient inland transportation for export production. Longchang produces a broad range of rail-related components, and supplies these both to MOR domestically and to customers in a number of countries around the world.
Holden Railway Equipment Corp., headquartered in Barbados, is part of the Holden Group of Companies, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Holden supplies railcar-related products and systems to the North American rail industry, including the Holden Grate-Lock Chock System currently installed widely throughout the North American bi-level auto carrier fleet and the Holden Gravity Flo hopper discharge gate.
