History

The Holden America heritage traces back to 1909, when the Holden Company was founded in Canada for the purpose of distributing transportation equipment. International Equipment Company was founded in 1931, and these two companies were amalgamated in 1968 to form IEC-Holden. Between 1968 and 2005, IEC-Holden and its related companies, Holden America and Holden International, enjoyed steady growth and expanded beyond distribution to undertake design and manufacturing of both locomotive components and railcar specialties. In 2005, the locomotive traction motor manufacturing business was sold, along with the IEC-Holden name, creating today's Holden America group of companies. Most recently, the Holden America group of companies expanded to include Holden America LLC (HALLC), which is the North American distributor for Holden International Inc.
